On the afternoon of March 16, Mr. Pham Dai Duong – Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee – held a courtesy reception for Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam. The visit aimed to promote the Thai Connect – “Connecting Thailand in Phu Tho 2026” event, a key activity celebrating the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic relations. Joining the reception were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Quach Tat Liem, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and provincial department leaders.

Secretary Pham Dai Duong emphasized that Ambassador Sriphiromya’s visit holds special significance as both nations are actively celebrating their 50-year diplomatic milestone. Providing an overview of the province, the Secretary noted that following the administrative merger, Phu Tho is focused on realizing the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress to achieve rapid and sustainable development. In its global integration strategy, Phu Tho identifies Thailand as a key international partner.
The Secretary highlighted major orientations, including industrial expansion in the Vinh Phuc, Hoa Binh, and Phu Tho sectors, and attracting infrastructure developers as a foundation for secondary investors. This aligns with Phu Tho’s current development of a Strategic Scheme to Attract Next-Generation FDI.
Regarding services, the province requested that Central Retail Group (operator of the Go! supermarket chain) expand its investment into the Hoa Binh area. In agriculture, Phu Tho aims to boost high-quality agricultural exports while welcoming Thai products. Furthermore, in light of the rapid growth in science and technology, the province sought Thai cooperation in human resource training and innovation projects.
In the tourism sector, a local strength, the Secretary called for more than just tourist exchanges, inviting Thai firms to invest in hospitality, restaurants, and high-end services.

Secretary Pham Dai Duong proposed closer coordination between the province and the Embassy to enhance cooperation efficiency, including project coordination mechanisms and direct exchanges between the government and businesses. He expressed confidence that Thai Connect 2026 would attract numerous Thai investors to the province.
Ambassador Urawadee Sriphiromya congratulated Vietnam and Phu Tho on the successful organization of Party Congresses and the recent general elections. Praising Phu Tho’s geo-strategic location, she revealed that the Embassy chose Phu Tho to host the 50th-anniversary celebrations, centered around the theme: "Smart Cities as Drivers for Economic Growth and Sustainable Development." This initiative is part of the broader framework to build the Vietnam-Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The Ambassador thanked the province for supporting Thai enterprises and committed to further investment expansion to contribute to the province’s double-digit growth target. She pledged to connect Thai businesses with Phu Tho’s strengths and continue materializing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership based on the “Three Connects” strategy: supply chains, local-to-local connectivity, and sustainable growth.
She expressed her firm belief that Thai Connect 2026 and subsequent people-to-people exchanges would further tighten the bonds between Thailand and Vietnam in the coming period.
