More “golden season” education

During the establishment and growth process, several schools in the province developed their brands on the quality of key education, helping to cultivate and educate high-quality human resources for the future and confirming the lead position of the ancestral land’s education on the Vietnam Education Map.

Havesting a "golden season"

Reviewing the accomplishments of the previous school year, the Phu Tho Education and Training sector maintains its position as one of the country’s bright spots in terms of educational quality. At the primary level, in the 2022-2023 school year, participating in “playgrounds” on the internet (IOE, Violympic, foreign exchanges), there were 8,524 pupils winning provincial prizes and 756 students winning national prizes. 279 pupils earned honors in “playgrounds” aimed at regional and international integration. In particular, 30 kids participated in the “National level Poinsettia Playground” and achieved good achievements, as did 30 students in the “National level Vietnamese Poinsettia Playground”. At the secondary level, Phu Tho consistently ranks well nationally in tests for great students and brilliant kids such as VMTC, Violympic and IOE, with 962 award-winning students in grade 9 at the provincial level.

Phu Tho earned 56 medals in the 2023 National Exam for Selecting Excellent Students in Grade 12. This is the sixth year in a row that students from Phu Tho province have won worldwide and regional Olympic honors. Phu Tho’s student won the Silver Medal in the International Informatics Olympiad and the Silver Medal in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad. As the unit in charge of training provincial teams to compete in the National Excellent Student Competition and the International Olympics, teachers and students at Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted have confirmed the unit’s position as a leader in training and developing high-quality human resources. Specifically, 70 pupils from the school won honors in the national exam for choosing great students for the 2023-2024 school year.

For other schools, the province-wide exam to identify great students at the provincial level for grade 12 in the 2023-2024 school year (excluding Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted) produced more than 1,100 winners. Yen Lap High School remained the top-ranked unit in the province, with 53/56 students obtaining prizes; Ha Hoa High School came second with 43/48 students winning awards; and Tam Nong High School ranked third with 50/51 students getting honors. This demonstrates that towns in the province are always focused on enhancing the quality of essential education in order to enjoy multiple “sweet fruit” seasons.

Choose the proper direction

Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted was a pioneer in creating the Computer Science education curriculum. With an aim to reach out to the regional and worldwide levels, the school is constantly inventing educational programs, including a breakthrough in the Informatics teaching program.

According to teacher Nguyen Thi Hong Thai, Head of the Informatics Team at Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted, the ideas made and suggested by the Informatics Team are always trusted and supported by the school’s Board of Directors. The “sweet fruits” brought are the crystallization of the process that teachers have built from the tradition of solidarity, connection, and support among generations of former National Computer Teams, as a result of the program differentiated teaching and early orientation for team members.

In the National High School Exam for Excellent Students in the 2023-2024 school year, Phu Tho province had 70/96 students win prizes, including two first prizes, 12 second prizes, 24 third prizes, and 32 consolation prizes. Seven students participated in the second round of selecting teams for the International Olympic competition in the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Informatics. This is the school year in Phu Tho province with the most students taking the test, as well as the most students earning rewards to date.

There are several things that contribute to success, but the most crucial is instilling teachers with a love for teaching and excitement. Teacher Ha Thanh Hung, Principal of Yen Lap High School in Yen Lap district, stated: "We frequently urge instructors to be enthusiastic, wholehearted in their teaching, and to inspire pupils. Teachers and students that achieve great success are constantly encouraged by industry leaders, schools, and other groups.

As a result, the school’s administration, instructors, and students consistently foster the spirit of dynamism and originality, and actively participate in emulation movements, resulting in a dynamic competitive environment across the school."

Yen Lap High School has assigned expertise based on each individual’s ability, encouraged and motivated teachers to participate in excellent teacher competitions, and increased professional exchange activities and learning from experience with other schools on methods of fostering excellent students. Encourage teachers to acquire good training resources and test questions for their students to discuss in professional or theme events. The school constantly provides ideal conditions for instructors to participate in classes to enhance their qualifications and develop them by topic, while also fostering the emulation movement “Innovation and creativity in teaching and learning”. Organize for kids to participate in a variety of intellectual playgrounds and exchanges, offering opportunities for students and instructors to strive and reinforce their potential, boldness, and innovation.

Nguyen Van Manh, Director of the Department of Education and Training, stated that the Phu Tho Education and Training sector’s success in fostering excellent and gifted students is the result of many factors, the first of which is leadership, direction, and facilitation at all levels and sectors, as well as family and societal care and investment. Along with that, the team of instructors engages in rigorous inquiry, thinking, innovation, teaching and learning organization, review, and extensive training, which is the outcome of the guidance and administration of all levels of educational management, as well as the continual efforts of school pupils.

Based on the provincial Department of Education and Training’s guidance and high schools have taken the task of detecting, selecting, and fostering excellent and gifted students seriously and effectively, beginning at the grassroots level; overcoming obstacles, creating the best conditions for students to practice, and improving their learning quality. As a consequence of test and competition results from the previous school year, the province’s education and training sector continues to enjoy numerous “sweet fruits,” confirming the appropriate path in task implementation and contributing to basic and comprehensive innovation in education and training.
