On the morning of June 10, the Hoa Binh Regional Center for Culture, Public Services and Community Support held the opening ceremony of the 2026 Phu Tho Provincial “Green Lane” Swimming Tournament for children and teenagers. The event was organized to celebrate International Children’s Day (June 1) and respond to the 2026 Action Month for Children.

Athletes compete in the freestyle swimming event for the 9–10 age group.
The “Green Lane” Swimming Tournament aims to raise public awareness of the benefits of learning to swim and developing safe swimming skills, thereby helping to reduce child drowning accidents across the province. The event also serves as a practical activity to promote sports participation, improve physical fitness, and enhance the health and well-being of children and adolescents.

The tournament helps identify and nurture young swimming talents.
In addition to providing a meaningful summer sporting activity, the competition offers young participants opportunities to interact, learn from one another, and showcase their talents, confidence, sportsmanship, and team spirit. The tournament also helps identify and develop promising young swimmers while promoting swimming practice and drowning prevention skills among students and the wider community.
This year’s tournament is open to children and teenagers aged 6 to 14 who are living and studying in the Hoa Binh area. Competitors are divided into four age categories: Group A (6–8 years old), Group B (9–10 years old), Group C (11–12 years old), and Group D (13–14 years old).
The tournament attracts 185 athletes from 11 representative teams of communes and wards in the Hoa Binh area. Competitors are participating in freestyle and breaststroke events for both boys and girls across all age categories.

The tournament also contributes to spreading the swimming movement throughout the community.

The event helps improve children’s physical fitness, life skills, and promotes a safe environment for their comprehensive development.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, competitions began in an exciting atmosphere, with enthusiastic support from parents and spectators.
The 2026 Phu Tho Provincial “Green Lane” Swimming Tournament for children and teenagers not only contributes to improving children’s physical health and life skills but also spreads the important message of drowning prevention and promotes the creation of a safe environment for children to develop comprehensively.
