Opening of the Hung King Temple Spirituality Marathon 2024

On April 6, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in conjunction with Bella Nota Co., Ltd., held the opening ceremony of the Hung King Temple Spirituality Marathon 2024 themed “Returning to the origin” on the Hung King Temple Historical Relic Site.

The organizing committee presented flowers and commemorative medals to member units.

This is the first time the Hung King Temple Spirituality Marathon has been conducted in Phu Tho province; it is part of a series of activities celebrating the Hung King’s Death Anniversary - Hung King Temple Festival and the Ancestral Land Culture - Tourism Week in 2024.

The event features over 6,000 athletics from throughout the country, including more than 1,000 from Phu Tho province. Athletes compete across four distances, including a 5km run, a 10km run, a 21km half marathon, and a 42 km full marathon.

The event brings together over 6,000 athletes from throughout the country.

The event is a voyage back to the nation’s beginnings; taking steps in the Ancestral Land is also a journey together “Returning to the Origin,” towards the Hung King’s Ancestral Land.

The organization of the tournament encourages people from all walks of life to participate in physical exercise and sports in response to the campaign “All people exercise their bodies following the example of the great Uncle Ho” and the movement “Be healthy to make a career and protect the country” among the nation’s youth, thereby contributing to improving health to serve the Fatherland by studying, working, producing, building and protecting.

Athletes received and checked their BIB numbers.

Simultaneously, spreading and raising knowledge about the importance, significance, and impacts of exercise and sports in preserving and enhancing health and quality of life; and creating a healthy lifestyle and cultural environment. The goal is to attract athletes and tourists to Phu Tho, thereby promoting cultural, sports, and tourism activities in th ancestral land; to expand cooperation and exchanges between Phu Tho and other provinces and cities in the country; and to raise community awareness about preserving and protecting the natural environment, as well as preserving and promoting the nation’s cultural values.

The 2024 Hung Spirituality Temple Marathon takes palce on April 6-7, with athletes officially competing on April 7. The 42km distance begins at 4 a.m., the 21km distance at 5 a.m., and the 5 and 10 km lengths at 6 a.m., respectively. On April 7, beginning at 7:00 a.m., the Organizing Committee will provide free coffee to athletes and conduct a music program in the recuperation area.
