With a total investment exceeding 77.3 billion VND, Phu Tho province will roll out self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power systems across provincial-level government buildings.

Installing rooftop solar systems serves as a practical solution to conserve electricity, reduce recurrent expenditure, and efficiently utilize public assets.
The Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee approved the Scheme to Develop Self-Produced and Self-Consumed Rooftop Solar Power Installed at Provincial Public Buildings through 2030 under Decision No. 2570/QD-UBND issued on August 6, 2026. The project identifies tapping solar energy at public offices as a key practical solution to save electricity, trim operational spending, and optimize public property use.
According to the scheme, Phu Tho plans to allocate over 77.3 billion VND to fund these rooftop solar systems. Total planned installation capacity stands at approximately 70,348 kWp, with annual operation and maintenance costs estimated at roughly 1.286 billion VND.
Funding for the initiative will be drawn from the medium-term public investment plan for the 2026–2030 period. The goal by 2030 is to progressively equip eligible provincial government buildings with rooftop solar installations in full compliance with current regulations.
Calculations indicate that the proposed systems could generate around 3,996 MWh of electricity annually, of which approximately 2,854 MWh will be directly produced and consumed on-site at public offices. The scheme also estimates an average grid electricity savings rate of roughly 62.04% for participating facilities during the investment phase, saving an estimated average of 26 million VND per month in electricity bills.
Beyond economic benefits, the project targets long-term environmental and social impacts. Estimates show that deploying solar systems will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, cutting an average of about 0.61 tons of CO2 per year for every kWp of installed capacity.
