After nearly 10 days of vibrant competition in Tuyen Quang Province, the 2025 National Classical Wrestling and Freestyle Youth Championship—held in response to Olympic Running Day for public health—officially concluded, with Hanoi taking first place in the overall team rankings.
The Phu Tho Wrestling Team participated with 10 athletes competing in two disciplines: Men’s freestyle wrestling for the 16–17 age group and women’s freestyle wrestling for the 14–15 and 16–17 age groups, across various weight classes.
At the end of the tournament, wrestlers from the Ancestral Land secured four medals, including one silver medal awarded to Do Van Dat in the 71 kg weight class for the 16–17 age group. In addition, three bronze medals were won by Nguyen Thi Hong Hanh in the 57 kg category and Duong Thi Bich Ngoc in the 43 kg category—both in the 16–17 age group—and by Le Kim Ngan in the 62 kg category for the 14–15 age group.
The athletes competed with determination and brought excitement to the tournament through their spirited performances.
This year’s championship gathered more than 500 athletes from 24 provinces, cities, and sectors nationwide, competing in two age groups—14–15 and 16–17 years old—across 42 weight classes. As part of the national sports competition system held annually by the Department of Physical Education and Sports, the tournament serves as a key platform to assess the quality of training and coaching at the grassroots level.
The event also plays an important role in identifying outstanding young talent for the national youth wrestling teams, helping prepare them for upcoming international competitions.
