Phu Tho wins 5 medals at the 2024 National Classical and Freestyle Wrestling Championship
The Phu Tho provincial sports delegation recently participated in the 2024 National Classical and Freestyle Wrestling Championship organized by the Department of Physical Training and Sports in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Nam Dinh province.
The provincial sports delegation participated in the 2024 National Classical and Freestyle Wrestling Championship.
The tournament had 20 provinces, cities, and sectors participating. Phu Tho province had 7 athletes competing in the men’s freestyle wrestling (weight classes 61 kg and 79 kg) and women’s freestyle wrestling (weight classes 59 kg, 68 kg, 72 kg, and 76 kg). As a result, the Phu Tho delegation won 1 silver medal in the 61 kg weight class and 1 bronze medal in the 79 kg weight class in the men’s freestyle wrestling event; 3 bronze medals in women’s freestyle wrestling (59 kg, 72 kg, 76 kg).
The National Classical Wrestling and Freestyle Wrestling Championship is an annual tournament held to evaluate the quality of training and coaching of wrestling athletes nationwide; at the same time, it is an opportunity for athletes to compete, exchange, learn, accumulate experience, and improve their performance. Specialized agencies and units review their forces to select outstanding athletes to add to the national wrestling team and participate in regional, continental, and international tournaments.
