Preserving Spring Moments

Spring is a time of transition for nature and all living things, with flowers blooming along the roads, vibrant festivals, and people filled with joy. It has always been an inspiring subject, sparking the creative passion of artists, especially photographers. For talented photographers, spring is truly the season of art.

Preserving Spring Moments

The brilliant, vibrant spring in the ancestral homeland is also a rich source of inspiration for photographers.

Every spring, through the artistic eyes and skilled lenses of photographers of the ancestral homeland, vivid and authentic moments of nature, the changing skies, and human life are beautifully captured. These images serve to reflect, preserve, and document the transformations of the homeland and every place the photographer visits. It could be a patch of golden sunlight, a veil of early morning mist, delicately blooming flower buds, or the innocence and joy of children in the highlands, along with the cheerful and radiant faces of festival-goers... The harmonious combination of ideas, composition, focus, light, and color helps viewers feel the poetic beauty of spring.

After more than five years of dedicating herself to the art of photography, young photographer Do Thu Quyen has won numerous photography awards. In her collection of artistic photographs, there are indispensable works capturing the essence of spring. Beyond her homeland, she has traveled to various regions, exploring diverse creative perspectives—from Ha Giang, Lao Cai, and Yen Bai to Quang Ngai, Da Nang, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, and Phu Quoc...

Preserving Spring Moments

The evocative photograph “Welcoming Spring” by Do Thu Quyen was taken at Hung Lo Temple, Viet Tri City.

"My passion for photography drives me to seek opportunities to set foot in various places, from the highlands to the sea, to explore and capture unique moments. Some spring photographs capture fleeting moments encountered on the way to work, while others require long journeys—from early morning to late afternoon, sometimes returning multiple times to get the perfect shot. Sometimes, it takes years of waiting for the ideal moment to finally come to life. To me, the scenery of my homeland, the spring festivals, the customs and traditions, and the unique Tet traditions of ethnic minorities—deeply intertwined with the natural beauty of spring—always attract and inspire me to create," shared photographer Do Thu Quyen.

Spring has become a source of abundant inspiration, woven into countless works of poetry, music, and painting by writers, poets, musicians, and painters. But perhaps the people most deeply connected to the beauty of this “first season” are photographers. For veteran photographers of this ancestral land, such as Vu Manh Cuong, Nguyen Vu Hau, Ut Muoi, Ngo Chi Thanh, Quang Bang, and Nguyen Viet Thang, the countless springs they have witnessed blur together—they have long lost count of the shoes worn out in pursuit of poetic moments. Yet, each new spring still stirs deep emotions and an endless stream of stories, remaining an irresistible pull for those behind the lens.

“Children’s Smile” – This photograph by Do Thu Quyen captures the innocence and joy of highland children as Tet arrives and spring returns.

Photographers often share that, to create artistic photographs that possess aesthetic value, depth, and soul, they must constantly innovate and push the boundaries of their creativity. Each artistic photograph conveys a message, speaks its own language, and carries a soul. It is infused with elements of music, painting, and poetry... Through the language of photography and their deep emotional connection to the vibrant spring scenery, talented photographers have told vivid stories using light and color. Their work captures the essence of spring, infusing fresh energy and ushering in a promising new year.
