Samsung Vietnam Conducts Surveys for SIC Lab Construction and Human Resource Training at Two Schools in Phu Tho

On the afternoon of September 28, a working delegation from Samsung Vietnam Group, led by Mr. Kim Yong Sup — Deputy General Director of Samsung Vietnam — conducted an on-site survey at Hung Vuong University and Vinh Phuc College of Engineering and Technology.

The survey trip aimed to concretize the strategic cooperation agreements between Samsung Vietnam and the Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee in developing high-quality, high-tech human resources.

At the working sessions, representatives of Hung Vuong University and Vinh Phuc College of Engineering and Technology highly appreciated the role, social responsibility, and significant contributions of Samsung Vietnam to overall socio-economic development as well as the cause of education and training in particular. They also expressed their desire to step up comprehensive cooperation with the Group, focusing on high-tech human resource training and advanced technology transfer.

Currently, Hung Vuong University has 449 officials, lecturers, and staff, with a training scale of 8,720 students and trainees. Of these, the engineering and technology sector (information technology, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronics) comprises 1,250 students alongside a team of nearly 50 specialized lecturers.

The university proposed that Samsung support the implementation of the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) Technology Talent Development Program; coordinate in researching and building an SIC Lab and a semiconductor technology practice room applying virtual reality/extended reality (VR/XR); and open intensive training courses on AI, IoT, and Big Data.

Regarding Vinh Phuc College of Engineering and Technology, this is a key vocational education institution currently offering 63 disciplines and trades with a scale of over 10,000 students annually. Training programs focus on mechanical engineering, electronics, automation, information technology, and supporting industries. In 2025, the college became one of the first four colleges nationwide licensed to offer training in Semiconductor Technology.

Drawing on its international cooperation experience with South Korean partners, the college proposed collaborating with Samsung to build a “Samsung Technology Space - SIC Lab” covering an area of approximately 1,000 m2. The college would provide the premises, while Samsung would support equipment, technology, and training program transfer, focusing on electronics, semiconductors, AI, and smart manufacturing.

Speaking at the survey program, Samsung Vietnam Deputy General Director Kim Yong Sup shared Samsung’s orientation in building an innovation ecosystem closely linked to training, research, and the practical needs of enterprises.

Mr. Kim Yong Sup emphasized that the working visit aimed to materialize the commitments and agreements reached between Samsung Group and the Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee. It is expected that Samsung Vietnam will roll out free training courses on AI, Big Data, IoT, and semiconductor technology for local students by sponsoring and building SIC Labs at educational institutions. At the same time, it will expand the “Samsung Solve for Tomorrow” program to encourage middle and high school students to apply STEM knowledge in solving practical local problems.

Based on the on-site survey results, Samsung Vietnam Group will study and agree upon a detailed cooperation plan. Samsung Vietnam Deputy General Director Kim Yong Sup expressed his hope that the schools will proactively select students with a passion for technology to participate in the program; continue to improve teaching quality; and strengthen coordination with enterprises to develop a human resource pool that meets the labor market’s requirements in the digital era.
