Tan Son district’s ethnic groups unite for development

Tan Son district has 17 communes and 172 villages. Ethnic minorities account for 82.5% of the district’s population. Among them are mainly the Muong ethnic group, a part of the Dao ethnic group, the Mong ethnic group; the remaining ethnic groups are other ethnic groups. Ethnic minorities in the district are always united and actively participate in productive labor, gradually improving their material and spiritual lives, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 4th District Party Congress.

In recent years, ethnic work in Tan Son district has always received attention from all levels of Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and the entire political system, promptly directing the implementation of programs, projects and ethnic policies, especially poverty reduction, sedentary farming, settlement and other ethnic issues in the district.

National target programs such as new rural construction (NTM), socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, poverty reduction, etc. have achieved many important results. The effective implementation of components and projects to support production development, infrastructure investment, and construction maintenance has practically contributed to solving traffic difficulties. The economy of ethnic minority and mountainous areas has gradually improved, the rate of poor households has decreased, and more and more production models and high-income family economic models have appeared.

Religious activities, land management, and religious establishments are focused on helping to prevent and stop the abuse of beliefs and religion to engage in superstitious activities and violate the law.

Towards the goal of sustainable development, the district has focused on mobilizing resources to transform the economic structure, support livestock farming, production, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, and build and develop a team of ethnic minority officials, effectively deploying ethnic policies, ensuring social security in the area. Thanks to that, great national unity is constantly consolidated and strengthened. People of all ethnic groups in the district always believe in the leadership of the Party and the governance of the State.

Total investment capital for social development has increased each year. In 2023 alone, investment capital for social development is estimated to reach VND1,316 billion. From the capital source for investment in developing socio-economic infrastructure in ethnic minority areas and extremely difficult areas, 100% of roads are invested in upgrading, renovating, and new construction, contributing to creating favorable conditions. Convenient for travel and the trade of goods.

The district focuses on directing and accelerating the progress of key projects and works such as Tan Phu-Xuan Dai Road; roads connecting and developing tourism at Long Coc Tea Hill and Xuan Son National Park (section from Long Coc to Xuan Dai); flood overpasses in Kiet Son, Lai Dong, Xuan Dai...

The poverty rate decreased by an average of 1.7%/year, the average income of Tan Son people has reached 36.16 million VND/year. The lives of ethnic minorities and mountainous people in the district are increasingly improving, creating an important premise for ethnic minorities to have the opportunity to continue to develop at a higher level, shortening the gap in access to social conditions between lowland, mountainous and highland areas.

Vocational training, new job creation and labor exports for ethnic minorities have had many positive changes. Many poor ethnic minority families were supported to repair and build new temporary houses. Thousands of hectares of natural forests are protected. Many typical products of people, such as chicken with many spurs, tea, wood, citrus fruit trees, are produced in a commodity-oriented way. Party committees and authorities pay special attention to training, fostering and improving professional qualifications, political theory and building a team of ethnic minority officials.

The fields of education, health, culture and society in ethnic minority areas have prospered. Facilities and equipment for schools in highland areas and ethnic minority areas have been invested in and upgraded. The quality of education is increasingly improving. Many ethnic minority students overcome difficult circumstances and strive to achieve high academic results. 100% of villages and hamlets have medical staff. Every year, tens of thousands of ethnic minorities in disadvantaged communes are given free health insurance cards and enjoy medical services such as medical examinations and treatment. The preservation and promotion of the cultural identity of the Muong ethnic group and other ethnic minorities in the area are preserved.

Traditional festivals are organized to ensure originality and meaning for each ethnic group, such as Cham Duong performance, Vi singing, Rang singing, gong performance art, field festival, Tet Doi, rice new of the Muong people, daces of bell, xinh tien, ceremony of granting Sac, Tet dancing of Dao ethnic people, Khen dancing and playing the Khen and leaf trumpets of the Mong people... The festivals are held solemnly, in accordance with the traditional cultural values of the locality, contributing to strengthening national solidarity, preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities, and repelling social evils.

The material and spiritual lives of the Dao people in Dong Son commune are increasingly improving.

The movement “All people protect national security” has been replicated throughout villages and hamlets with models of self-management and self-defense, contributing to creating consensus among the people and promoting the strength of great solidarity throughout the entire nation, maintaining political stability, social order and safety, improving the material and spiritual lives of the people in the entire district. Security and social order in the area are maintained. The work of building the Party and building a clean and strong government is emphasized, achieving comprehensive results. The entire district has nearly 3,400 ethnic minority party members, accounting for 68.4% of party members in the entire district.

Implementing the National Target Program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, the district has focused on integrating capital sources to build essential infrastructure. Currently, Minh Dai commune continues to maintain the commune to meet NTM standards. Long Coc commune maintains 15/19 criteria; Van Luong commune maintains 16/19 criteria and other communes maintain 8 to 14 criteria, with an average of 11.5 criteria/commune. Currently, there are 34 residential areas meeting NTM standards. The work of propaganda and dissemination of legal education and legal aid in ethnic minority and mountainous areas has been renewed, thanks to which people have grasped and understood the Party’s guidelines and policies and the laws of the country. Government.

In the past 5 years, the entire district has elected 1,000 prestigious people among ethnic minorities. Village elders, village chiefs, and reputable people have promoted exemplary roles in the ethnic community, gradually erased outdated customs, promoted good values in life, and built a new cultural lifestyle in residential areas.

Along with that, focus on building synchronous socio-economic infrastructure in ethnic minority areas; develop and improve the quality of human resources in ethnic minority areas; promote the preservation of national cultural identity; increase the quantity and improve the quality of ethnic minority officials; firmly consolidate the great national unity bloc; ensure national defense and security; and build an increasingly clean and strong Party and political system.
