Hung Vuong Gifted High School’s students win 2 Silver Medals at USABO

Nguyen Thi Cam Tu, a 10th-grade student, and Ha Thanh Phuc, a 12th-grade student—both majoring in Biology at Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted—have won Silver Medals at the U.S. Biology Olympiad (USABO).

The 2025 USABO was held on April 7 and organized by the Center for Excellence in Education (CEE), a U.S.-based nonprofit committed to nurturing young talent in science and technology—seen as vital investments for the global future of the United States.

The competition was conducted online in English under strict proctoring. It drew participation from over 11,000 high school students from around the world. Outstanding performers are often invited to attend advanced science programs and are highly regarded by top U.S. universities during the admissions process.

Following the Asian regional round, top-performing Gold and Silver medalists will move on to the global competition, which will be held in-person.
