The Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship (MOSWC) is an annual global competition organized by Certiport, a U.S.-based computer testing corporation, since 2002. Targeting students aged 13 to 22, the competition aims to identify and honor the most skilled individuals in Microsoft Office applications worldwide. In Vietnam, the 2025 edition is co-organized by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and IIG Vietnam, with sponsorship from the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel).

Now in its 16th season, the competition attracted nearly 2,000 outstanding contestants from 230 teams representing universities, colleges, and middle and high schools nationwide. To promote digital skills development in less advantaged areas, the Organizing Committee hosted regional award ceremonies in localities with limited access to IT resources, including the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region, the Central Highlands, and the Mekong Delta. These events aimed not only to honor high-achieving contestants and dedicated teachers but also to foster a culture of learning informatics in accordance with international standards, thereby helping to narrow the digital divide across regions.

At the ceremony in Phu Tho, the Organizing Committee awarded 6 first prizes, 12 second prizes, 18 third prizes, and 60 consolation prizes to contestants from the provinces of Bac Kan, Hoa Binh, Lang Son, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, and Phu Tho. Additionally, 29 teachers were honored for their exceptional guidance and support in helping students achieve excellent results.

Phu Tho emerged as the leading locality in the region, with an impressive medal haul that included 5 first prizes, 7 second prizes, 9 third prizes, and 21 consolation prizes—demonstrating the province’s growing strength in information technology education and digital competency among youth.

Following the national rounds, the Organizing Committee will select six of the most outstanding IT talents in Vietnam to be named MOS Vietnam Ambassadors. These individuals will represent the country at the MOS World Championship Final, scheduled to take place at the end of July 2025 in Orlando, Florida, USA.
