On the morning of March 27, the People’s Committee of Phu Tho Province held a press conference to provide official information regarding the Hung Kings' Commemoration - Hung Kings Temple Festival and the Ancestral Land Culture-Tourism Week 2026 (Year of the Horse). The event aims to bolster communication and promote the province’s tourism potential to a wide domestic and international audience.

The press conference was presided over by Mr. Nguyen Huy Ngoc — Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and Deputy Standing Head of the Organizing Committee — along with provincial leaders from the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the Department of Information and Communications, and representatives from the Hung Kings Temple Historical Relic Site.
The Hung Kings' Commemoration is a cultural and spiritual event of paramount significance for Vietnamese people at home and abroad. It is an occasion to pay tribute to the Hung Kings and ancestors who founded and defended the nation, while strengthening great national unity. Notably, 2026 marks a historic milestone as the festival takes place following the administrative merger of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, and Hoa Binh into the new Phu Tho Province, operating under a two-level local government model.

Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Duong Hoang Huong speaking at the event.
According to the Organizing Committee, the main activities will take place from April 17 to April 26, 2026 (corresponding to the 1st to the 10th day of the third lunar month) at the Hung Kings Temple Special National Historical Relic Site and various localities across the province. The festival is divided into two main parts: the Ceremonial Rites and the Festival Activities.
The Ceremonial Rites will be conducted with solemnity, featuring traditional rituals such as incense offerings to commemorate the Hung Kings, the death anniversary of Father Lac Long Quan, incense offerings to Mother Au Co, and the official Hung Kings' Commemoration Day on April 26 (the 10th day of the third lunar month).
The Festival Activities will include a diverse series of cultural, sports, and tourism events, such as the opening art program, cultural camps, mass art festivals, street folk festivals, folk art performances, traditional sports competitions, book fairs, exhibitions, and trade fairs.
A highlight of this year’s event is the inaugural International Fine Arts Exhibition, aimed at expanding cultural exchange. Many activities, such as marathons, golf tournaments, and rowing, have been “socialized” to enhance their appeal and scale.

Overview of the press conference.
Addressing the press, Vice Chairman Nguyen Huy Ngoc emphasized that the 2026 Festival is a “golden” opportunity to showcase the unique cultural values of the nation’s roots, thereby promoting tourism and elevating the province’s image. Phu Tho aims to strengthen coordination with media agencies, content creators, and the tourism business community to spread the message: "Civilized - Heartfelt - Reliable."
The Provincial People’s Committee has directed the establishment of a Press Center to facilitate journalists’ operations and requested all sectors to ensure absolute security, traffic safety, and environmental hygiene. Phu Tho also called upon tourism enterprises, travel agencies, and KOLs to actively promote specialized tours and local products, highlighting an Ancestral Land that is both rich in tradition and dynamic in its development.
Concluding the session, the Vice Chairman committed that Phu Tho would provide the best possible conditions for information access and working environments, inviting the media to accompany the province in its journey toward sustainable tourism development.
