Review of the 2026 Hung Kings' Commemoration – Hung Temple Festival and Ancestral Land Culture-Tourism Week

On the afternoon of May 8, the Hung Temple Historical Relic Site held a conference to review the service and organization of the Hung Kings' Commemoration – Hung Temple Festival and Ancestral Land Culture-Tourism Week 2026.

Mr. Pham Tien Dat, Director of the Relic Site, presided over the meeting.

To ensure the festival’s success, the management board closely followed the directives of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People’s Committee. They proactively developed plans, established an Organizing Committee, and coordinated tightly with relevant departments and localities to handle arising situations promptly, ensuring a safe, civilized, and effective event.

Key rituals, including the Incense Offering Ceremonies to the Hung Kings, National Ancestor Lac Long Quan, and Mother Au Co, along with the palanquin processions, were conducted with solemnity and strict adherence to traditional rites. These ceremonies deeply spread the “Drink water, remember its source” philosophy, fostering national pride and a sense of belonging.

The festival portion was vibrant and diverse, featuring a wide array of engaging cultural, artistic, and sporting activities. A standout feature was the Cultural Camp at Phu Bung Hill, where 18 clusters of communes and wards showcased meticulously invested displays steeped in local identity. Additionally, the provincial-level Banh Chung (square sticky rice cake) wrapping and Banh Giay (round rice cake) pounding contest—organized for the first time with 18 artisan delegations—created a unique and colorful highlight for the festivities.

Leaders of the Hung Temple Historical Relic Site presented Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals for their outstanding achievements in task performance and socialized funding efforts for the 2026 Hung Kings' Commemoration.

One of the most notable innovations of this year’s commemoration was the robust application of digital technology and digital media in festival services. Other successful events included the “Martial Arts Essence – Returning to the Roots” Festival, dragon and lion dance performances, artistic orchid exhibitions, and various folk art activities featuring participants from both within and outside the province.

Security, fire safety, environmental hygiene, and service management were implemented synchronously. Functional forces maintained strict patrols to handle violations, effectively preventing street vending, tourist solicitation, and superstitious practices. According to reports, the 2026 Commemoration welcomed approximately 6.5 million compatriots and tourists.

Concluding the conference, Director Pham Tien Dat affirmed that the festival’s success resulted from the dedication of all staff and the effective coordination of provincial agencies. Moving forward, the Relic Site will continue to review its processes to enhance organizational quality, further integrate digital transformation, and promote the image of the “Ancestral Land” as a friendly, modern destination rich in national identity.

On this occasion, the Director awarded Certificates of Merit to 20 collectives and 61 individuals for their outstanding achievements in festival service and socialized funding efforts for the 2026 Hung Kings' Commemoration.
