Completion of Temporary Floating Bridge Replacement at Phong Chau Bridge

On September 29, as soon as conditions permitted, Brigade 249 of the Engineering Corps deployed the plan and completed the task of erecting the PMP 60T bridge to ensure traffic flow after the collapse of the Phong Chau bridge span.

Brigade 249 mobilized over 200 officers and soldiers and nearly 90 various vehicles to participate in the installation of the floating bridge.

The floating bridge was installed about 400 meters downstream from the Phong Chau bridge that located in Phung Nguyen Commune, Lam Thao District, and Huong Non Commune, Tam Nong District and was collapsed on September 9.

Urgently Completing Preparations

As of now, the floating bridge has been completed and will be opened for traffic to serve the needs of the people from tomorrow, September 30.

The bridge segment in the middle of the river was equipped with cables and winches placed first.

The width of the river and the flow velocity changes frequently, making the installation and operation of the floating bridge more difficult.

The bridge segments were towed, moved, and connected from the Ban Nguyen Commune in Lam Thao District.

Half of the floating bridge was installed on the side of Huong Non Commune, Tam Nong District.

The floating bridge will be opened for traffic to serve the needs of the people from tomorrow, September 30.
