At each memorial site, in a solemn and respectful atmosphere, Secretary Dang Xuan Phong and the delegation laid wreaths, offered incense, and observed a moment of silence to honor the heroic martyrs. They bowed in remembrance and expressed their deep gratitude to those who had shed their blood, devoted their youth, and heroically sacrificed their lives for the cause of national liberation, independence, and the happiness and prosperity of the people.

While offering incense at the graves of martyrs from Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, and Hoa Binh (formerly part of Phu Tho Province) at the Road 9 and Truong Son National Martyrs’ Cemeteries, Secretary Dang Xuan Phong and the delegation expressed their deep respect and shared, “The Party Committee, government, and people of Phu Tho will forever remember the noble sacrifices of the heroic martyrs who gave their lives for the independence of the Fatherland. The next generations vow to uphold the tradition of ‘When drinking water, remember its source,’ remain united, and continuously strive to build an increasingly developed and prosperous homeland, while caring for policy beneficiaries, in keeping with the province’s traditions and worthy of the martyrs’ sacrifices.”
Truong Son National Martyrs’ Cemetery is the final resting place of more than 10,200 heroic martyrs who fought and served on the legendary Truong Son trail. Among them are 548 martyrs who were the elite sons of the former provinces of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, and Hoa Binh.
The Road 9 National Martyrs’ Cemetery honors over 10,800 heroic martyrs from the main forces, local troops, militias, guerrillas, and youth volunteers who fought on the Road 9 front and in Laos during the resistance war against the United States. Of these, 323 martyrs were from the former Phu Tho–Hoa Binh–Vinh Phuc region.
The delegation also laid wreaths and offered incense at Quang Tri Citadel to pay tribute to the martyrs who fell in defense of the country. The citadel is a sacred historical site, etched into the nation’s memory for its 81 heroic days and nights in the summer of 1972, during which countless Vietnamese soldiers sacrificed their lives to defend Quang Tri town. Their blood and bones now rest with the Thach Han River.
