During the meeting, Chairman Tran Duy Dong extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Sumitomo Group on their visit and working session in Phu Tho province. He affirmed that, in line with the Party Central Committee’s policies and the National Assembly’s Resolution, Phu Tho province was newly established through the merger of the former provinces of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, and Hoa Binh - a strategic milestone opening new space and momentum for development across the Ancestral Land and the broader Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region.

Overview of the working session.

Following the merger, Phu Tho has emerged as a locality with vast potential and room for major breakthroughs. It is now one of the largest provinces in the country - ranking 6th in economic scale among 34 provinces and centrally governed cities - with a total area of 9,361 km2 and a population exceeding 4 million. The province also boasts a high concentration of industrial parks (IPs), and the two-tier local government system is operating smoothly.

Chairman Tran Duy Dong expressed his hope that, building on the success of the investment project at Thang Long-Vinh Phuc Industrial Park (Thang Long III Industrial Park), Sumitomo Group would continue to expand its investment - particularly in the infrastructure development of Binh Xuyen-Yen Lac II Industrial Park.

Phu Tho has tasked the Provincial Industrial Parks Management Board with preparing and finalizing the detailed zoning plan by September 1, 2025. Based on that plan, Sumitomo Group will be able to conduct further research, complete the necessary legal procedures, and submit proposals to the Provincial People’s Committee for consideration and approval of its investment policy. The province is committed to supporting and creating the most favorable conditions—standing side by side with investors.

Phu Tho will continue to prioritize attracting supporting industries, ecological industries, and high-tech sectors. To tackle existing challenges and enhance the province’s investment and business environment in both the short and long term, the chairman announced that he will soon convene a thematic conference focused on easing obstacles in attracting high-quality human resources for key industrial parks.
