Accelerating Land Clearance for the 500 kV Transmission Line Project Lao Cai - Vinh Yen

The 500 kV Transmission Line Project Lao Cai - Vinh Yen spans a total length of 229.5 km, with over 41 km running through Phu Tho province, crossing 13 communes in three districts: Doan Hung, Thanh Ba, and Phu Ninh. The project commenced on March 5, 2025, and is expected to be energized in August 2025.

To date, land clearance has been completed for 81 out of 94 tower foundation positions. Regarding the clearance of the transmission corridor, Doan Hung and Thanh Ba districts have 117 households requiring resettlement, but compensation assessment has not yet been conducted, while Phu Ninh district has eight households in need of resettlement, with the assessment process nearly completed.

Concluding the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Son urged relevant departments, agencies, and localities to take more decisive action to resolve difficulties and obstacles, particularly by strengthening public communication to gain community support, accelerating compensation and land clearance efforts, and ensuring that all tower foundation positions are handed over by March 31. Additionally, he emphasized the need to swiftly develop resettlement plans for affected households to stabilize their livelihoods.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee requested the project investor to urgently finalize and hand over the necessary documents for issuing land recovery notices for the transmission corridor. He also instructed the investor to arrange a surveying consultancy unit to collaborate with district authorities in carrying out land declaration, assessment, and boundary marking simultaneously to prevent unauthorized tree planting and construction within the project’s designated land recovery area.

Furthermore, he emphasized the need for proactive coordination with specialized agencies at the district level to review and finalize plans related to resettlement areas for project implementation. He also urged the continued allocation of funds for compensation payments to affected households based on the approved compensation plan, with priority given to advance payments for households that have submitted consent forms, ensuring smooth land handover for the project.
