Phu Tho successfully completed the Provincial Defense Zone exercise

On October 17, at Regiment 753, Yen Duong commune, Cam Khe district, the Defense Zone Exercise Steering Committee (KVPT) of Military Region 2 coordinated with the Phu Tho Provincial Exercise Steering Committee to organize a live-fire exercise and close the 2024 Phu Tho Provincial exercise.

After 1.5 days of organizing the exercise with many important contents, the 2024 Phu Tho Provincial 3-level one-sided defense zone exercise was a great success, ensuring absolute safety for people and weapons and equipment. The exercise results were assessed as excellent.

Comrades in the Exercise Steering Committee of Military Region 2 and Phu Tho Province presented gifts to the units participating in the live-fire exercise.

In his closing speech, Lieutenant General Pham Hong Chuong, Commander of Military Region 2, acknowledged and praised the sense of responsibility of the Party Committee, authorities, departments, agencies, unions, armed forces, and people of all ethnic groups in Phu Tho province for overcoming all difficulties to successfully organize the 2024 Provincial exercise. He affirmed: The success of the exercise is of great significance, helping the Steering Committee of Military Region 2 gain more experience in leading, directing, and operating the exercise. At the same time, it serves as a basis for local Party Committees and authorities to continue to lead and direct the building and consolidation of potentials in the KVPT, supplement and develop combat plans, be ready to successfully handle situations that arise, and avoid being passive or surprised.

The Phu Tho Provincial Defense Zone Exercise was successfully completed. During the exercise, the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, Provincial People’s Committee, and the exercise framework thoroughly grasped and applied the Party’s viewpoints and guidelines on the strategy of defending the Fatherland in the new situation, on people’s war, building a national defense for all people, the People’s security posture, and operating the Party’s leadership mechanism in the spirit of Resolution No. 28-NQ/TW dated September 22, 2008 of the Politburo on building defense zones, in each content of the exercise to ensure closeness to local realities and the tasks of each sector and each force.

The participants in the exercise were proactive, creative, and promoted a sense of responsibility, solidarity, and close coordination to organize the province’s exercise according to plan, ensuring absolute confidentiality and safety of people, vehicles, and weapons and equipment throughout the exercise. Phu Tho province combined the exercise with propaganda and education, making all levels, sectors, and the entire population deeply aware of the task of building KVPT, contributing to building Phu Tho province politically stable, developing socio-economy, and ensuring national defense and security.

The Commander of Military Region 2 suggested that, on the basis of the exercise, Phu Tho province continue to propose and recommend to competent authorities to consider, amend, and supplement issues arising in the process of organizing the exercise and building the local defense zone in the new situation. Continue to thoroughly implement Resolution 28 of the Politburo and Decree No. 21 of the Government on defense zones; at the same time, improve the quality of training in national defense and security knowledge for cadres and party members, especially cadres in charge to raise awareness and responsibility in leadership and management, advisory capacity in implementing local defense work, ready to effectively deal with situations, and maintain political security stability—social order and safety of the province.

Regularly pay attention to building armed forces with sufficient quantity and quality, truly a tool to protect the party, the government, and the people, especially the reserve force, militia, and self-defense force; improve the quality of political education and ideological awareness for armed forces to be ready to fight in all conditions and circumstances, contributing to the successful implementation of two strategic tasks: building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

On behalf of the Steering Committee for the 2024 Phu Tho Provincial Military Exercise, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Bui Minh Chau affirmed: With the attention and close direction of the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Command of Military Region 2, Phu Tho province has successfully completed the task of the 2024 Provincial Military Exercise. The agencies, units, and forces participating in the exercise have done a good job of ensuring absolute safety for people, weapons, equipment, and vehicles. The Provincial Defense Exercise Steering Committee and the components of the exercise framework have drawn many experiences in leadership and direction, from the stage of developing plans and documents to operating mechanisms and practicing exercises in peacetime, as a basis for building and consolidating, enhancing potentials in the provincial defense area, and at the same time supplementing, developing combat plans, ready to respond successfully to situations that arise.

Phu Tho provincial leaders accepted and requested the forces participating in the exercise to overcome the limitations that the Military Region 2 Exercise Steering Committee had mentioned: continue to supplement and complete plans, combat plans close to reality, and the local security capability. At the same time, propose and recommend to competent authorities to consider, amend, and supplement new issues arising in the process of organizing the exercise and in the construction and operation of the local defense area.

At the end of the exercise, 8 groups and 8 individuals with outstanding achievements in the 2024 Phu Tho Provincial exercise were awarded Certificates of Merit by Military Region 2; 13 groups and 23 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Provincial People’s Committee.
