On the morning of April 24, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh - Chairman of the National Committee on Digital Transformation chaired the 8th meeting on national digital transformation.

The conference was connected online from the Government headquarter to the meeting points of ministries, ministerial-level agencies, Government agencies and People’s Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities.

According to a report from the Ministry of Information and Communications, in the first quarter of 2024, the Government, the Prime Minister, ministries and branches have issued many documents and policies to complete the legal corridor for application of information technology (IT) and digital transformation. The Ministry of Information and Communications continues to strengthen guidance on telecommunications businesses to promote the development of digital infrastructure to serve the national digital transformation. State agencies continue to exploit and effectively operate national databases in socio-economic management and administration. Connecting and sharing data continues to be promoted by ministries, branches and localities, strengthening implementation and exploiting the maximum value of data.

Determining 2024 as the year for “Digital economic development with 4 pillars of IT industry, digitalization of economic sectors, digital management, digital data - An important driving force for rapid and sustainable socio-economic development”, the Ministry of Information and Communications pointed out that the annual digital economic growth rate must be 3-4 times higher than the GDP growth rate, i.e. 20-25% a year to achieve the goal of the digital economy proportion in GDP in 2025 to be at least 20%, and at least 30% by 2030. This is a difficult and challenging task that requires a breakthrough solution. Therefore, at the conference, the Ministry also focused on analyzing the current status, goals, shortcomings, limitations, difficulties, obstacles and offering many solutions for both governments and businesses in each pillar.

sRegarding key tasks and solutions in the coming time, the Prime Minister requested that leaders and heads of ministries, central branches and local authorities must have greater determination and drastic direction in implementing the national digital transformation. The Prime Minister clearly stated “3 enhancements” and “5 steps up”, which clearly stated: “3 enhancements” is to increase awareness of the role of the digital transformation to each citizen and business, especially highlighting the role of the head; strengthen the potential for digital transformation, considering this a key task that requires priority in resource allocation; strengthen public-private cooperation, use public investment to lead private investment, and activate all social resources for digital transformation. The “5 steps up” include: Promoting institutional improvement, creating a full legal corridor to promote the national digital transformation and develop the digital economy; Promoting the development of digital infrastructure and digital platforms to create an important premise for digital economic development; Promoting the creation of digital data and development of digital services, ensuring connection, linkage, and sharing continuously, smoothly, and synchronously; Promoting the development of digital human resources and digital skills to meet socio-economic development requirements; Promoting network security and information safety to protect the national cyberspace sovereignty early and from afar.
