The 19th Phu Tho Provincial Party Congress Resolution said that one of the goals and solutions for implementing a breakthrough in strengthening the business investment climate is to deploy maximum resources to expand transport infrastructure projects. Over the last two years, Phu Tho province has prioritized resources for this task, particularly regional transportation, resulting in a driving force for regional socioeconomic development, including two neighboring provinces with the Lo River - Vinh Phuc and Tuyen Quang - establishing a solid “stool” position, connection, cooperation, and growth.
Leaders of Phu Tho - Vinh Phuc province and delegations cut the ribbon to launch Vinh Phu Bridge, a bridge of solidarity between the two provinces.
"There is a faithful Vinh Phu"
Vinh Phu province was partitioned into Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc on January 1, 1997, by Resolution of the 10th Session of the 9th National Assembly, marking the beginning of the country’s industrialization and modernization phase. The piece “There is a faithful Vinh Phu” by author Nguyen Dac Sinh appeared in the inaugural edition of Phu Tho Newspaper following the re-establishment of Phu Tho province, also honoring Spring 1997 (published on January 1, 1997). The name is full of adoration, expressing the two provinces' solidarity and devoted love.
Vinh Phu Bridge across the Lo River was inaugurated to assist link traffic between Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc.
Then, after 26 years, we observed many people’s excitement when the two provinces launched the Vinh Phu Bridge. A faithful Vinh Phu, a Vinh Phu that divides the province but does not “divide love,” the bridge has contributed to shortening the geographical distance, allowing the people of Lap Thach and Song Lo districts - Vinh Phuc province and Viet Tri city - Phu Tho province to travel more conveniently, increase trade, economic development, cultural exchange, and connect the two provinces in particular, as well as regional traffic in general.
Vinh Phu Bridge construction began in December 2021 and was finished in August 2023, four months ahead of schedule, with a total expenditure of more than 540 billion VND. The bridge is 509m long and connects Song Lo district (Vinh Phuc) to Viet Tri city (Phu Tho) with four motor vehicle lanes.
During the inauguration event, Chairman of the Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee, Bui Van Quang, spoke emotionally, stating that this is just one of the two provinces' accomplished programs and projects. In the future, the two provinces will increase coordination and exchange to jointly implement cooperation programs and joint development projects, with a focus on investing in more important traffic projects connecting the two localities, such as the Hai Luu bridge (replacing Tien Du ferry wharf in Phu Ninh district) and the Nhu Thuy bridge (replacing Then ferry wharf in Phu Ninh district), Cao Phong bridge connects Vinh Phuc - Phu Tho to Hanoi via the Van Lang Bridge. Simultaneously, the project to rehabilitate and expand National Highway 2 section Vinh Yen - Viet Tri will be deployed shortly in order to successfully promote the Hac Tri bridge. As a result, socioeconomic growth is aided while the Party Committee, administration, and people of the two provinces' ethnic groups maintain a strong link.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and encouraged workers constructing the Tuyen Quang-Phu Tho expressway in January 2023.
The highest allowable speed on the Tuyen Quang-Phu Tho expressway is 90km.
"Only work, no backtracking"
The Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway, which connects with the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, was inaugurated and put into use in the days leading up to the New Year of 2024, meeting the expectations of party committees, authorities, and people from all regions and ethnic groups in the two provinces, as well as the entire Northern Midlands and Mountains region.
The Tuyen Quang-Phu Tho Expressway is 40.2 kilometers long (11.3 kilometers in Tuyen Quang province and 28.9 kilometers in Phu Tho province), with an investment of more than 3,700 billion VND. The route begins in Tuyen Quang City and ends at the IC9 intersection of the Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway in Phu Tho province.
The Prime Minister paid a visit to persons in the relocation area in Doan Hung district for construction of the Tuyen Quang-Phu Tho expressway project.
Recalling approximately a year ago, when the Tuyen Quang-Phu Tho highway project was newly deployed, it was in the process of clearing land, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stressed the importance of the highway for the socioeconomic growth, security, and defense of Phu Tho and Tuyen Quang provinces in Ha Giang, hence forming a critical regional link axis. When connected to the Noi Bai-Lao Cai highway, a highway will run from Phu Tho to Tuyen Quang and subsequently to Ha Giang, cutting travel time from Hanoi to the “top of the country” in half. As a result, the Prime Minister requested: "Once a decision is made, we must focus on making it decisively. Phu Tho - Tuyen Quang must work hard to construct the highway so that it may help the local community and the entire area."
The crossroads connects the Tuyen Quang-Phu Tho Expressway with the Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway.
During the 7th meeting of the State Steering Committee for significant national works and projects, critical transport sectors, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Chairman of the Steering Committee, continued to highlight the spirit of speed. Furthermore, “only work, no backtracking” means that no matter where the problem is, it will be fixed at that level! This drastic guiding viewpoint also serves as the starting point for the emulation launch “78 days and nights overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain” to complete the Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway construction project connecting with the Noi Bai - Expressway Lao Cai ahead of schedule, in time to celebrate the New Year of 2024.
Developed transportation infrastructure in Viet Tri City promotes socioeconomic growth and regional connection.
With the determination of infrastructure development, with emphasis given to the construction of critical transportation projects as one of the breakthrough sectors, Phu Tho province has produced a number of big projects since the beginning of the term. Deploy and accelerate progress, such as: traffic route connecting National Highway 32 and Ho Chi Minh Road with National Highway 70 to Hoa Binh; Tuyen Quang-Phu Tho expressway connects with Noi Bai-Lao Cai expressway; inter-regional traffic route connecting National Highway 32, Ho Chi Minh Road with National Highway 32C to Yen Bai province; Vinh Phu bridge across the Lo River connects Phu Tho with Vinh Phuc province... These finished projects not only strengthen linkages between districts, cities, and towns, creating regional connectivity, but they also enhance efficiency. The utilization of the Noi Bai-Lao Cai highway and the national transportation system contribute significantly to the province’s and the region’s socioeconomic growth.
After 27 years of re-establishing the province, Phu Tho has left a lasting legacy thanks to the intelligent and resolute leadership and guidance of the Provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee, as well as the consensus of all walks of life. As a result, the province is aligned with the country’s rapid transition, and it will continue to innovate and integrate in order to become the leading developing province in the Northern Midlands and Mountainous area.
