On April 29, the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade held a ceremony at Lam Thao Super Phosphate and Chemical Joint Stock Company to launch the 2025 Workers' Month and the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, delivered a keynote speech at the event.
At the ceremony, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Phu Tho Provincial Party Committee Phung Khanh Tai, and other delegates officially launched Workers' Month and joined the response to the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene 2025.
This year, Workers' Month is themed “Vietnamese workers pioneering into a new era,” while the Month of Action focuses on “Strengthening assessment, identifying risks, and proactively implementing measures to ensure occupational safety and hygiene at the workplace.” These campaigns aim to raise public awareness and social responsibility in caring for and protecting workers’ legitimate rights and interests, improving their living and working conditions, and honoring their contributions in the country’s new stage of development.
Minister Nguyen Hong Dien also addressed the ceremony.
Key activities during the month include programs such as “Creative workers, confidently entering the new era,” “May Dialogue,” the forum “The Party with workers—Workers with the Party,” and “Thanking workers.” Additional efforts include an intensive campaign to develop new union members, establish grassroots-level unions, introduce outstanding workers for party membership, and conduct communication campaigns to raise awareness among union members and workers.
President Nguyen Dinh Khang and Minister Nguyen Hong Dien also commended outstanding individuals in the industry and trade sector for their achievements in the Good Labor and Creative Labor movements.
In their remarks, both leaders called on all levels of trade unions, as well as union members and workers in the sector, to thoroughly grasp and implement the 2025 Workers' Month activities in ways that suit their specific contexts. They urged practical solutions to ensure workplace safety, job and income stability, enhanced labor productivity, and the promotion of emulation movements. They also emphasized the importance of supporting workers facing challenges such as job losses or reduced working hours through tangible and meaningful initiatives.
President Nguyen Dinh Khang and the President of the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade presented gifts to union members and workers in particularly difficult circumstances.
At the event, leaders of the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade also awarded symbolic plaques to four units receiving financial support for the construction of “Trade Union Shelters.”
The event also underscored the importance of communications efforts and encouraging union members and workers to remain optimistic, work with peace of mind, and overcome challenges alongside their enterprises. The Vietnamese working class was hailed as a pioneering force in the country’s renewal process—ready to stride confidently into a new era of national development.
Leaders called on the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade to continue innovating its structure, content, and operational methods; to widely disseminate the goals and significance of Resolution No. 57 on Science and Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation, and Resolution No. 59 of the Politburo on international integration. Workers were encouraged to embrace lifelong learning, upgrade their skills—especially in high-tech sectors—and participate in innovation and technical improvements to help drive new engines of growth. These efforts aim to fulfill political tasks within the sector, achieve an economic growth rate of at least 8% in 2025, and reach double-digit growth in the following years.
Also at the ceremony, President Nguyen Dinh Khang, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien, Standing Deputy Secretary Phung Khanh Tai, and other delegates symbolically launched Workers' Month and the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene 2025.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade honored 40 outstanding individuals from the industry and trade sector for their achievements in the Good Labor and Creative Labor movements. It also presented gifts to 50 union members and workers in particularly difficult circumstances from Lam Thao Super Phosphate and Chemical Joint Stock Company, Vinh Phu Battery Company, and the Vietnam Paper Corporation Trade Union. Each gift was worth 2 million VND. In addition, the union donated 500 million VND to support the construction of 10 “Union Shelters,” each valued at 50 million VND.
