On the morning of April 7th (the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month), at the Hung Kings Historical Site, the Party Committee, government, and people of Phu Tho Province, representing the people, soldiers, and overseas Vietnamese, solemnly organized the incense offering ceremony in memory of the Hung Kings for the 2025 Year of the Snake.
President Luong Cuong Pays Tribute to the Hung Kings
Despite the rain, at exactly 6:30 AM, amidst the resounding ceremonial music, the incense offering procession departed from the festival center’s yard, passing through the Nghi Mon, Lower Temple, Middle Temple, and up to the Upper Temple. Leading the procession was a ceremonial guard carrying the national flag, festival flags, and a wreath inscribed with the words, “Eternal gratitude to the Hung Kings who built the nation.” Behind them were young girls in red ao dai holding incense, flowers, and offerings, accompanied by 100 Lac Hong grandchildren in traditional costumes, raising festival flags high to symbolize the vibrant vitality of the Dragon and Fairy descendants. They were followed by a procession carrying offerings of incense, flowers, sticky rice cakes, and square cakes, symbolizing the legend of Lang Lieu and the ancient belief of "Round Heaven, Square Earth." Following them were the party and state leaders, central government agencies, local authorities, and Phu Tho leaders, departments, sectors, mass organizations, districts, towns, and the people who attended the incense offering ceremony.
Vice Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Phu Tho People’s Committee, Bui Van Quang, respectfully read the memorial text in tribute to the Hung Kings.
Before the spirits of the National Ancestor Hung Kings, on behalf of the people of the country, Mr. Bui Van Quang, Vice Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of Phu Tho People’s Committee, respectfully read the memorial text, expressing deep gratitude to the Hung Kings and the ancestors who founded and defended the nation. He also acknowledged the great achievements of the Party, people, and army in the national renewal, integration, and development. Reflecting on the ancestors, the Hung Kings initiated the nation’s history, established the Van Lang State, and built the foundation for the prosperity of the nation through eighteen dynasties. For thousands of years, the kings loved their people and lived harmoniously with them; the entire nation was united, and the people were bound by brotherhood.
Afterward, the Party and state leaders, along with the delegates, laid wreaths and offered incense at the Hung Kings' Mausoleum, and presented flowers at the bas-relief of President Ho Chi Minh speaking with officers and soldiers of the 1st Pioneer Division at the Five-Way Junction near the Well Temple.
At the same time, incense offering ceremonies were held at the Hung Kings' temples and monuments to other national heroes and commanders across the country and in Phu Tho Province, following traditional rituals.
Although it was raining, immediately after the incense offering ceremony, thousands of local people, overseas Vietnamese, and international friends came to respectfully pay homage to the ancestors, offer incense in memory of the Hung Kings, and participate in traditional cultural activities.
